5 Meaningful Ways to Support Black-Owned Businesses this Juneteenth and Beyond 🖤

As Juneteenth approaches, I’m reminded that I didn’t start V Vitamins to just sell products, I started it to create the care and community I wish existed for women like me. Studies show some medical professionals believe Black people feel less pain. That myth—rooted in slavery—still shows up today when Black women’s symptoms are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or ignored. We’re 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes. We lead in maternal mortality, heart disease, and undiagnosed reproductive conditions—even when we have money, insurance, and education.

Black Women Are Still Fighting for Wellness That Sees Us

Juneteenth is about liberation—and Black women are still fighting for wellness that sees us, not stereotypes us. V Vitamins exists to make space for every woman—especially those most often overlooked and underserved. Because when women build our own wellness spaces, we’re no longer waiting to be seen, studied, or taken seriously. We become the experts, educators, and decision-makers. I’m the granddaughter of a sharecropper who prayed for her children’s children to be free—emotionally, spiritually and financially. Because of your support, I am. This Juneteenth, your support isn’t just kind—it’s revolutionary. Thank you for helping make her prayer come true. 💖 Your support makes all the difference. And here are 5 practical ways to support Black-owned brands:

Real Ways to Support Black-Owned Businesses Beyond Juneteenth

1. Buy from us regularly—not just during Black History Month or Juneteenth - Your consistent support helps sustain long-term growth and financial freedom. Black-owned businesses often face barriers to capital and visibility, so every purchase is a vote for economic justice.

2. Share our content, posts, and wins on social media - Visibility is everything in business. A single tag, story share, or “check this out” post helps us reach new customers and normalize support for Black-owned brands year-round.

3. Leave reviews and testimonials - Social proof builds trust. Leaving a review not only affirms the value of our work—it helps others feel confident spending with us instead of defaulting to big box brands.

4. Recommend us in real life, especially in rooms we aren’t in - Tell your group chat, your co-workers, your community. For Black-owned brands, referrals build more than revenue—they open doors we've historically been locked out of.

5. Support policy and cultural shifts that protect equity, like DEI initiatives and affirmative action: These systems exist because we were never given a fair shot. Now, many of them are being rolled back—and with them go opportunities for funding, hiring, and advancement. Supporting Black businesses is one of the few ways you can help rebuild what’s being dismantled.

We didn’t get here alone. We got here through shared effort, shared pain, and shared prayer. When you support a Black-owned business—especially one owned by a Black woman—you’re doing more than shopping. You’re circulating power. You’re continuing the work. You’re making freedom tangible. Happy Juneteenth. Thank you for being part of this revolution. 🖤
