Shop Black-Owned Wellness: Ways to Support Black Women’s Health This Juneteenth

Juneteenth commemorates the long-overdue announcement of emancipation in 1865. Yet the same “wait your turn” energy still lingers in modern medicine, where Black women’s pain is minimized, our outcomes are poorer, and our wellness is treated like an afterthought 💔 Being a Black woman in America means carrying our own stories and the weight of history. We navigate medical systems not built for us, especially when it comes to reproductive health. While Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery, it also highlights how long Black people have been denied basic human rights including equitable, bias-free healthcare. As a Black woman entrepreneur, I launched the V Vitamins to create the wellness space I wish existed—where Black women are centered, not tolerated. This year, your Erotic Educators want the celebration to hit different: we’re writing new freedom papers—this time for your vaginal flora. No more odor, no more imbalance, no more dismissive doctors. Just pH-reedom, powered naturally by your V Vitamins.

The History of Medical Racism in Gynecology

Did you know that Black women are:

  • 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes—even when we have insurance, education, and access.
  • More likely to have our pain dismissed or misdiagnosed.
  • Less likely to receive accurate reproductive care.
  • More likely to suffer from preventable conditions like heart disease, fibroids, and autoimmune disorders.

These disparities aren’t just numbers. They’re a direct result of systems that weren’t made to protect us. And they continue to impact Black women’s vaginal health to this day.

How to Support Black-Owned Feminine Health Brands Beyond Hashtags

My grandmother was a Southern sharecropper who worked hard to raise her family despite earning pennies. She didn’t have access to quality healthcare or holistic healing. Yet, what she did have was hope that her grandchildren to come would one day be free. Because of your support, I am that prayer in motion. And I want to gently remind you that celebrating Juneteenth is about action. Black lives matter and Black wellness matters too. If you desire to be an ally here are 3 ways to show up:

  1. Shop With Intention 🛍️ Buying from Black owned businesses like V Vitamins helps close the wealth gap, fund community-centered care, and keep our wellness work alive.

  2. Educate Yourself & Speak Up 🗣️ Learn the facts about Black maternal health, systemic racism in medicine, and the rollback of DEI and affirmative action efforts. Then advocate loudly. In your workplace, your group chats, your policy choices.

  3. Be Consistent, Not Just Performative 📆  Don’t just show up during Black History Month or Juneteenth. Make supporting Black brands part of your regular life—just like you would with any other brand you love and trust.

We’ve created wellness products, digital guides, and pleasure toys that meet you exactly where you are.
